Characterization of Dust Characteristics from Sludge Co-combustion in Coal-fired Units and Experimental Study on Retrofit of Pneumatically Rapped ESP

Sludge co-combustion in coal-fired power plants generates flue gas dust with high viscosity, causing severe dust deposition on downstream environmental protection equipment. This study analyzed the dust deposition mechanism in electrostatic precipitators (ESPs) and characterized the dust layer properties. Results indicated that sludge co-combustion increased flue gas moisture content, altered particle morphology, and elevated dust viscosity. To address these issues, an anode pneumatically rapped ESP technology was developed to enhance anode plate cleaning. This technology was retrofitted on a 1000 MW unit at Zhejiang Jiahua Power Plant, and performance tests under sludge co-combustion conditions were completed in February 2025. At a specific dust collection area of 118 m²·s/m³ and a unit load of 987 MW, the ESP outlet dust concentration decreased from 25.32 mg/m³ before retrofit to 7.95 mg/m³ after retrofit. Analysis revealed that sludge co-combustion caused excessive dust deposition on the first electric field anode plates, inducing back corona, high-voltage power supply flashover, and low secondary voltage and current. After retrofit, regions with low rapping acceleration were eliminated, achieving effective dust cleaning. Secondary voltage and current were significantly improved, and overall ESP efficiency was remarkably enhanced. The proposed technology provides a reference for ESP retrofitting of coal-fired units under biomass (sludge) co-combustion and low-load conditions.

Concentration-Driven Ion Transport Regulated Perovskite Nanocrystal Memristors Enable Reliable Neuromorphic Sensing, Logic Gate Circuits, and Data Security

Memristors, which leverage ion migration for resistance switching, offer breakthroughs in bionic perception, information security, and edge computing but face bottlenecks in functional integration and stability. Herein, we explore all-inorganic Cu3SbI6 nanocrystals (NCs) & PMMA composite memristors (Ag/PMMA&Cu3SbI6/ITO) regulated by NCs doping (0–15 wt%). The devices operate via electric field-induced Ag+ ion migration and conductive filament dynamics, where NCs act as local electric field enhancers. At a doping concentration of 4 wt%, stable bipolar switching (Ron/Roff > 2 × 10^3, cycling endurance > 700 cycles) enables the simulation of biological nociception/Pavlovian reflexes and the construction of basic logic gates. At 2 wt%, sparse NCs induce random filament formation for encryption key extraction, which integrates with 4 wt% logic gates to enable efficient encryption/decryption of text/image data. This work provides a strategy for designing multifunctional memristors by regulating ion transport through nanocrystal concentration, offering references for related functional integration and cross-disciplinary applications.

Advances in Research on the Effects of Exposure to Metals and Bisphenol Pollutants on Blood Pressure in Children and Adolescents

Childhood hypertension is a growing global concern, with approximately 4% of Chinese children exhibiting sustained elevated blood pressure meeting hypertension criteria, and single-time-point screening detecting rates of 14%–20% (up to 19% in obese children). Environmental exposure to metals (lead, cadmium, arsenic, mercury, copper, chromium) and bisphenol analogues (bisphenol A, S, F) has been implicated as a modifiable risk factor. This review synthesizes epidemiological evidence linking such exposures to blood pressure alterations in children and adolescents, highlighting dose-response relationships and potential mechanisms, including oxidative stress, endothelial dysfunction, and epigenetic programming. Key findings from cited studies indicate that low-dose bisphenol A exposure alters human cardiomyocyte functionality, and synergistic effects with insulin resistance elevate childhood blood pressure. Metal exposures, particularly lead and cadmium, are associated with increased blood pressure and cardiovascular structural changes. The review underscores the critical window of developmental exposure and the 'tracking phenomenon' linking childhood blood pressure to adult hypertension. Limitations include cross-sectional designs and confounding by mixed exposures. Future research should employ longitudinal cohorts and multi-pollutant models to refine risk assessment. Preventive strategies should integrate school health programs to reduce environmental exposure and monitor cardiovascular health.

CPL-Enabled Spatial Displaying for Immersive Human-Machine Interaction

Circularly polarized luminescence (CPL) offers a route to stereoscopic displays with wide viewing angles and reduced visual fatigue, yet electrically driven real-time modulation and high luminescence dissymmetry factors (g_lum) remain unresolved. Zhuang and Yu encapsulated macroscopically helical liquid crystals into microspheres, dispersed them in a polymer precursor, and self-positioned the solution above luminescent regions via hydrophilic-hydrophobic surface tension differences. Simultaneous ultraviolet irradiation and heating polymerized the assembly into a multi-microsphere collaborative circular polarizer (MCCP) chiroptically coupled to electroluminescent components through photonic bandgap matching. The resulting electrically controlled CPL microdevice achieved a maximum g_lum of 1.0. Monolithic integration of these microdevices produced a 3D display delivering parallax images to both eyes, enabling depth-information-established imagery when viewed with smart polarized glasses. A depth-sensing apparatus based on binocular disparity visualized depth information for the first time, permitting hand-movement interaction with the 3D imagery. Integration with a motion-synchronized human-machine system allowed a robotic arm to replicate user manipulations remotely and synchronously. In a simulated trapped-personnel rescue scenario, 3D-display-provided depth information enabled remote robotic manipulation for successful rescue with maximum safety guarantee. This work, published as a Science Advances cover article, demonstrates a neoflexible 3D display platform for immersive human-machine interaction.
