High-Be Cu-Be alloys exhibit dendritic segregation and brittle β/γ phases, complicating processing and applications. This study investigates the influence of cooling path on eutectoid transformation, microstructure, and mechanical properties in Cu-2.8Be and Cu-3.8Be alloys. A two-step homogenization treatment effectively eliminates segregation and suppresses the formation of harmful acicular phases. Diffusion-kinetic and thermodynamic analyses demonstrate that both the initial temperature and cooling rate determine eutectoid morphology and extent. Crystallographic and Eshelby-based analyses reveal that the β → γ transformation involves an isotropic contraction of ~3.9%, producing much lower strain energy than the anisotropic β → α transformation (~28.5% expansion and ~9.2% contraction), thus explaining the preferential nucleation of γ. Rapid cooling promotes incomplete eutectoid decomposition along grain boundaries, forming fine α/γ lamellae with interlamellar spacing down to ~7 nm. Lattice strain analysis confirms considerable distortions at α/γ interfaces (ε_xx = 0.0167, ε_yy = 0.0095). The mechanical incompatibility and high internal strain at these interfaces cause stress concentration and crack initiation. This work establishes a process-microstructure-property-mechanism framework essential for controlling the performance of high-Be Cu-Be alloys.

High-temperature interfacial diffusion in Half-Heusler (HH) thermoelectric devices poses significant challenges for practical applications, particularly the diffusion of Ag from conventional solders, which degrades material performance and device stability. This study reveals anomalous Ag diffusion through a Cr powder barrier layer into Ti0.5Zr0.5NiSn0.98Sb0.02, driven by Sn phase penetration. In contrast, employing a Cr foil barrier layer pre-densified the material, effectively preventing Sn phase penetration and eliminating Ag diffusion pathways, thereby preserving junction integrity. After aging at 973 K for 30 days, the Cr foil junction maintained a clean interface with a low contact resistivity of 0.27 μΩ cm2. Benefiting from this interfacial design, a Hf-free HH module achieved a high conversion efficiency of 10.4% at a hot-side temperature of 976 K, alongside long-term stability. This work addresses critical bottlenecks in developing high-performance, low-cost HH modules, facilitating their commercial application in waste heat recovery.

Biological ion channels exhibit multistate transport behavior beyond simple binary open-closed conformations, enabling dynamic control of neural signaling and transmembrane substance transport. Inspired by this, we synthesized a triphenylamine-ketone donor-acceptor (D-A) type poly(aryl amine-ketone) with multiple redox sites, allowing continuously tunable electrochemical states via hierarchical electron transfer. Combining this polymer with two-dimensional conductive MXene, we constructed a biomimetic nanofluidic transistor. Through side-group tuning to optimize redox matching, the polymer undergoes reversible conformation switching via intramolecular charge transfer at voltages below 1 V. The field-driven conformational changes induce electrostatic attraction, promoting reversible contraction of MXene interlayers. Synergistic coupling of interlayer spacing variation and dynamic interfacial charge rearrangement enables precise hierarchical control of ion flux. The device achieves three switchable ion transport states—closed, partially open, and fully open—with an ion switching ratio of 10 and outstanding cycling stability. Furthermore, synaptic plasticity features emulate fundamental attributes of biological signaling, providing a foundation for bioinspired neuromorphic devices.

Conducting polymers are promising electrode materials for aqueous ion batteries and supercapacitors due to their high conductivity, environmental friendliness, and flexibility. Electropolymerization enables controlled deposition of these polymers onto conductive substrates, tuning loading, morphology, and structure. This dataset systematically compares the electrochemical energy storage performance of conducting polymers derived from monomers including 1,10-phenanthroline, 5-amino-2-naphthalenesulfonic acid, o-aminophenol, 1,5-diaminonapthalene, s-triazine, and aromatic molecules with multiple carbonyl and imino groups. Aqueous electrolytes investigated include sulfuric acid, zinc sulfate, ammonium sulfate, potassium hydroxide, and zinc trifluoromethanesulfonate solutions. Galvanostatic charge-discharge at various mass-normalized current densities was employed to evaluate specific capacities. The dataset comprises 266 MB across 490 files, providing key parameters such as specific capacity, rate capability, and cycling stability. Analysis of this data enables inference on the influence of polymer structure and electrolyte composition on charge storage. This resource serves as a reference for the rational design of high-performance conducting polymer electrodes for aqueous energy storage devices.
