Extrudable Vitrimeric Elastomer Enabled by Interfacial Stress Amplification of Multiphase Network

Dynamic covalent bonds (DCBs) offer a route to recycle thermoset elastomers, but continuous reprocessing of DCB-crosslinked rubber remains challenging due to high viscosity and low crosslink density. This study presents a multiphase design with heterogeneous crosslinking achieved via in-situ modification and interfacial exchange reactions. The resulting vitrimeric elastomer exhibits a high gel ratio (>95%), mechanical toughness, excellent elasticity, and significantly improved extruded reprocessability. Coarse-grained molecular dynamics simulations reveal that interfacial stress amplification accelerates DCB exchange and enhances mechanical properties. The work provides mechanistic insights into heterogeneous networks under force fields, facilitating the development of practical vitrimeric elastomers.
